ABOUT US
Behind the buzzing Miss Peppercorn restaurant, owners Ciya and Lin believe that handmade food brings the greatest joy to diners. Everything is crated from srartch. Our signature handmade offerings - such as fragrant chilli oil, appetising sauces, wontons, dumplings, and Biang Biang Noodle - have become the restaurant’s specialities.
Originally from Canton in Southern China, Lin and his family began a new chapter in Christchurch in 2015. With over 30 years of experience in star-rated hotel kitchens across China, Lin brings deep culinary expertise to Miss Peppercorn.
Ciya and Lin aim to present the authentic tastes of Chinese cuisine - particularly Szechuan cuisine. Szechuan cuisine is known for its heat from chillies and, more distinctively, the tingling and numbing sensation of Szechuan peppercorns. This unique flavour profile defines many of our most-loved dishes, including Kungpao Chicken, Dandan Noodles, and Biang Biang Noodles.
With a welcoming vibe and attentive service, Miss Peppercorn is not just a place for a culinary experience, but also an inviting space in seaside Sumner where family and friends can gather.
For those who favour milder flavours, the restaurant also offers a wide variety of classic dishes that are mild or non-spicy. Diners with dietary requirements - including gluten-free, vegan, and nut-free options - are also well catered for. Simply put, everyone can find a favourite dish here.
